I was just reading topic 4 from "ethic and law"'s wiki page and I found these two properties of blocking softwares very interesting:
"
  • All are typical proprietary products - apparently the free and open-source software is fundamentally different in mindset
  • All are produced in the USA - the whole industry is more or less unique to that country
"
about the first point, I agree that the mindset is totally different and the sprit of free software does not match the idea of blocking someone from accessing something! but it also has to do with the fact that being non proprietary most of the times comes with being open source; and open source blocking tool can be very venerable to hacking.
second point though is very interesting and i'm very curious to know why . well to start, us is a big country and is fist in many other industries as well!
